While attending classes she worked with Dr. David Long, Owner and President of the College for Appraisers, as his Administrative Assistant. During this time Dr. David Long mentored her in the history of antiques and collectibles, professional appraisal business practices and appraisal theory.
Barbara realized early on that many of her clients were going through major life changes and a great deal of her work involved counseling in one form or another. In order to better provide for her clients, she worked towards a Doctorate in Divinity with emphasis in Spiritual Counseling.
